In 2000 military spending was slightly over $300 billion. ( Bill Clinton established appropriate levels of military spending) . We must fulfill the Iraq troop removal plan as presented and authorized by Georg Bush. In addition, we should allow the "Afghanistan surge" time to be successful. I do believe that "Perpetual war on deficit spending" has a shelf life. Instead of spending $500,000 a year per troop with deficit spending on "Nation building ", lets spend the money on retooling the military and creating jobs here at home! The cost of logistics from the U.S. to Afghanistan is staggering and all of it is on unsustainable deficit spending.
